Benefits of AromaTouch
Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. AomaTouch Technique session is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:
Enhanced sleep quality.
It can also help specifically address a number of health issues. AromaTouch Sessions can:
Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
Ease medication dependence.
Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
Increase joint flexibility.
Lessen depression and anxiety.
Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
Reduce spasms and cramping.
Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
Relieve migraine pain.
WHAT IS THE AromaTouch
What is the AromaTouch® Technique?
The ArōmaTouch Technique is a clinical approach to applying essential oils along energy meridians and visceral contact points of the back and feet or hands to help balance sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems of the body. Developed by Dr. David Hill, a leading expert in integrative medicine and therapeutic applications of essential oils, the ArōmaTouch Technique improves well-being by reducing physical and emotional stressors and by supporting healthy autonomic function. The technique is simple and intuitive and uses Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade® essential oils for an unparalleled grounding experience.
AromaTouch is a light touch application which will enhance essential oil activity, stimulate known body meridian and energy zones while balancing bodily systems and functions. It can help you relax and calm muscle tension.
The natural balance of our body systems and health is challenged on a daily basis by negative factors from both our external and internal environments, influencing our overall health and wellbeing. This imbalance in homeostasis causes our bodies to function at less than optimal level. The AromaTouch Technique works to restore homeostasis, and minimize the impact of those negative factors.
The four SYSTEMIC CONTSTANTS that most often impair homeostasis are:
Stress causes the body to increase its production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter in charge of vital nervous system functions. Serotonin works to monitor emotional and nerve health at normal levels, however, elevated levels can destroy white blood cells, which weakens the immune system. Stress also causes an increased level of cortisol and epinephrine in the body, further weakening the immune response. Elevated stress levels over time can lead to the development of illness and chronic disease.
The normal function of the immune system can become impaired by environmental factors such as disease-causing pathogens, contaminated food (pesticides and hormones), free-radical pollution, over exposure to radiation, medical interventions, etc. A compromised immune system affects the ability of the body to produce effective white blood cells.
The body’s inflammatory response is triggered when the body tissues are injured by bacteria, trauma, toxins, heat, or other causes. Inflammation can also occur from poor dietary habits, and stress. Inflammation negatively affects autonomic balance.
An imbalance of the autonomic nervous system disrupts the body’s homeostasis, which can result from stress, decreased immunity, and inflammation. Restoring homeostasis can reduce the physiological impact of those stressors on the body.
The ArōmaTouch Technique includes four primary steps designed to minimize systematic stressors to autonomic balance. Each step includes the application of two essential oils or essential oil blends specifically formulated to support healthy emotional and physiological functions for well-being. The technique requires approximately 45 minutes.
Benefits of PEMF
The future of PEMF session is exciting given the findings of early research in a wide variety of health conditions. For example, preliminary data in clinical studies shows rTMS has promise in treating schizophrenia, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s disease.
In relation to cardiovascular disease, studies show how PEMF session may reduce blood glucose levels, blood viscosity, total cholesterol, and triglycerides, while raising high-density lipoprotein (HDL). These studies will hopefully serve as an impetus for further investigation given that heart disease is the leading cause of death in the United States.
Another study shows how PEMF session may accelerate the healing of damaged brain tissue following acute stroke.
In light of the emergence of drug resistant bacteria, clinical studies show how PEMF session could one day become part of the standard of care in inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus infections and augmenting antibiotic therapy.
Complicating the issue of antibiotic resistance are biofilms, dynamic mucous-like cities in which bacteria live and thrive. Biofilms protect bacteria and assist in bacterial cell-to-cell communication and in the exchange of genetic information. The same bacterium living outside a biofilm is less susceptible to antibiotics when living in a biofilm. Studies indicate PEMF session may effectively address this dangerous bacterial diversity.
Studies also suggest that PEMF session may one day be used to treat cancer. Findings show PEMF session induces apoptosis of cancer cells, inhibits the growth of malignant tumors, modulates the immune system via cytokines as an anti-tumor effect, and may act synergistically with chemotherapy and photodynamic therapy to combat tumor growth.
PEMF and osteoporosis
The scientific evidence is accumulating regarding how PEMF may one day gain FDA approval for the prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
PEMF improves bone mineral density, increase growth of osteoblasts, and positively influence bone remodeling via cytokines, prostaglandins and cell growth factors.
In the clinical setting, it is important to document objective measures of improvement based on the therapy chosen. Bone density test scores are used to monitor the response to therapy for osteoporosis and osteopenia over the long term. Over the short term, clinicians can use urine deoxypyridinoline (uDPD) levels to monitor response to therapy. Deoxypyridinoline cross links Type 1 collagen found in bone. In conditions where bone turnover is high, deoxypyridinoline spills into the urine in high levels. As bone turnover decreases, uDPD levels drop.
In my preliminary analyses, I find that PEMF lowers uDPD in patients with osteoporosis. In one patient, uDPD decreased by 53% in two months with weekly sessions, and the reduction was sustained with once-monthly sessions. If this finding is reproducible in a double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial, this would affirm the ability for PEMF to positively impact bone remodeling in osteoporosis.
